The Annur Quran Competition is dedicated to nurturing a profound love for the Quran within the youth and families of Northern California. Drawing inspiration from the esteemed standards of the Imam Shatibi Quran Competition, our mission is to foster a welcoming community inspired by excellence. We aim to elevate recitation by combining strong tajweed, beautiful adaa, and the noble manners (adab) that reflect the spirit of the Holy Book.
History of Excellence
The Annur Quran Competition grew from a heartfelt vision at Masjid Annur’s Quran programs. Local teachers and community members observed the immense potential of our youth and felt a collective desire to raise the bar for Quranic recitation in Northern California.
Seeking to bring world-class standards to our doorstep, our organizers looked to prestigious international platforms like the Imam Shatibi Quran Competition. We adopted their rigorous structure and grading frameworks to ensure absolute fairness and technical depth.
What started as a local initiative has blossomed into a cherished regional tradition, fostering a community that values the marriage of precise tajweed with the spiritual beauty of the holy text.

Our head judges are distinguished Shuyukh with deep expertise in tajweed and Quran education, brought together to uphold the highest standards of recitation with multiple Ijazaat from scholars across the world.
